EC wants a universal phone charger

What practical and wonderful news: the European Commission is getting ready to force all mobile companies to use the same charger for their phones. The main reason for this demand is that the EC wants to reduce the gross amounts of electrical waste generated by switching chargers every time you switch phones. It makes sense, especially considering all phone chargers are basically of the same voltage and amperage.

Now, how can we get the US to do the same?
